Seth, chronologically the next books I would read are HEAVY TIME and
HELLBURNER; these two go together and should be read in that sequence.
Next read RIMRUNNER. MERCHANTER'S LUCK doesn't fit into a time line quite
as snugly as these three but takes place at about the same time.
After that I would read 40,000 IN GEHENNA (a book I personally found very
difficult) and perhaps SERPENT'S REACH. Finally the three volumes of
CYTEEN which are really one book. I found CYTEEN difficult, too, but much
more worth the struggle. Some of your comments on DS apply to CYTEEN, I
think.

The three FADING SUN books are in the Union/Alliance universe, but far, far
into the future.

Jo, I enjoyed (enjoyed?) your discussion of the mechanics of space flight.
Did I understand it? No-o-o. Will I reread it and try to formulate
pertinent questions? Yes. However, I wanted you to know that your picture
of a space dimple hit me between the eyes. THAT, I thought, is a gravity
well!

Apparently I'm not ready for words yet, but I can handle pictures. Got any
more?
