Volcanic National Park, CA, USA |

Summer |
Lassen Peak is one of only two active
volcanoes in the lower 48 states. In 1914, it erupted
for the first time after a long break. Its violent fit
of eruptions ceased in 1917, but Lassen is still considered
active. Lassen is the southernmost volcano in the Cascade
range. |

Lassen, too is quite steep,
but the trail switches back
and forth at a gentle slope. |
